    Keeping body weight in check?

    What are you guys/gals doing to keep your weight in check?

    Right before Thanksgiving I started hitting the gym again. Thought I'd get in better shape before racing really kicked off for 2012. When I started I was ~198lbs in clothes. Had to visit the Doc a few days ago and was 232lbs

    Haven't really been doing much cardio though. Mostly lifting, and swimming laps each day to finish my workout. I can't say I'm the most healthy when it comes to eating, though I try. Normally have a shake for breakfast, small lunch, then whatever the wife cooks at dinner (which normally is fairly healthy).

    Anyone have suggestions? Because it seems when I'm out of shape and quit going to the gym, I stay right around ~200lbs. But if I get back in shape, my weight shoots up. Should I worry about it, or is it more important to be in shape, and just take what races are in my class?

    edit*** I am just shy of 6ft 4inches tall

    edit*** I am just shy of 6ft 4inches tall
    I'm 6'4" over 330lbs suited.. I gave up on loosing weight. I just cram as much NOS as it can take without blowing it up.

    So you found nothing to help out? Or did you gain when trying as I seem to be? Its bad when i weigh less OUT OF SHAPE. Though muscle is heavier than fat I suppose.

    i eatt no l;ess then 3 times a day i go to the gym 4 times a week 2hrs at a time manly runing and endurence lifting with working in kick boxing at the end i eat proten alot of it an no sodas (it sucks) all tho i did only heavy lifting until i had a hartattack

    Does that keep you at the same weight? Or make you lose?

    I didnt gain weight until i got married. I used to play basketball everyday at the park on the way home from work, then go hang out and do what ever. I was always on the go.. either playing ball, fishing, hunting or running with my dog. Got married, the wife started yapping about not coming straight home... complaining about not eating her food next thing i knew I went from 235 to 335lbs

    I damaged a rotater cup in a 3wheeler accident years ago that needs repairing now. Maybe this summer I'll get it taken care of and try again to get back on track. Once I get in the routine of working out i love it... its just hard working shiftwork (nights and days). Last thing I want to do is wake up early to go work out

    @ big j i agree it is a pain in the butt to get up sooner just to go work out but i can say this i feel better since i started doing (5 yrs strong )

    @ Big J, I just got married in October. But, my wife cooks pretty darn healthy, so I dunno

    As for the getting up early, I leave the house headed to gym by 5am every morning. Spend just over an hour working out, then shower and to work by 7. Always been a morning person so that part is easy.
