    5.7 vortec street sleeper

I'm playing with my 81" GMC C-10, added a 2000 Yukon vortec 5.7 with a Willhoite 495/502 lift custom roller camshaft, edelbrock Carb and intake, long tube headers, summit race mufflers and Pro Comp HEI Distributor. After finishing the build everybody else was happy but I wasnt. I sold the 2wk old exhaust from the collectors back. Picked up a set of flowsound single chamber race mufflers and the engine is coming out for some needed compression. Thinking about doing a 383 with it since the crank is only $168 at summit racing... Think about doing a bigger camshaft too. The 350 tranny and granny gears are also being replaced by a 700r4 and a set of 3.73 or 4.10. I haven't made my mind up yet.

that sounds like it'll be a sweet ride when its finished, ive got a 1999 tahoe with the motor out that ive been thinking about slapping a small cam in and some aluminum vortec heads but my daughter is wanting it when she gets her license next year

Simple swap out going to beehives. GM beehives valves springs under $100 no machine work needed. Competition Cams has a titanium lock set that makes it complete. The cam shaft is basically similiar to the GM LT4 hotcam but a tad bigger and is Ground by Willhoite's Camshafts...best part is the price. Cant beat $129 for a hydraulic roller camshaft. After reading into it I think my problem is the stock dished pistons and stock converter. A set of .040 flat tops, stronger gears and a 400 crank will give it the torque I'm looking for. Nothing like 35mph rolling burnouts I'll try putting the dremel to the intake and heads this time too.
